2D Art Work
I strive to differentiate between 3D and 2D art forms, and I recognize that 2D mediums and techniques are essential for students’ growth in 3D art development. Mastering these foundational skills in drawing, painting, pastels, and other 2D techniques enhances their overall artistic abilities and prepares them to reach new heights in three-dimensional creation. Regular practice in these areas helps students expand their creativity and deepen their understanding of art as a whole.
During Hispanic Heritage Month, students engaged in an exciting exploration of color theory through the creation of life-size sombrero paintings. This project allowed them to experiment with vibrant colors and patterns, deepening their understanding of how color can convey cultural significance and emotion. Many students brought in their own sombreros to share, enriching the experience with personal stories and traditions.

Digital Art Unit
Students embarked on a creative journey by designing both 4x4 stickers and 8x11.5 posters, utilizing the innovative platform Sketchpad.app. This project marked their first foray into the world of digital art, where they explored various online tools and techniques to bring their artistic visions to life.

Self Portraits
I am a strong advocate for incorporating self-portraits across all age groups I teach. These projects serve as a fantastic opportunity for students to explore themes and styles that reflect their identities. Typically introduced at the beginning of the year, I emphasize the significance of self-expression in the creative process, helping students understand the value of portraying their unique perspectives through art.
