Middle School Art
In Middle School Art, students embark on a creative journey that fosters self-expression and critical thinking. We explore a variety of artistic techniques and mediums, including drawing, painting, sculpture, and digital art. Students learn to appreciate diverse cultures and art history, which informs their own artistic practices. Through hands-on projects, they develop skills in observation, composition, and color theory, while also gaining confidence in their unique artistic voice. Collaboration and constructive feedback are integral parts of our classroom, allowing students to grow as both artists and peers. Ultimately, Middle School Art is a space where imagination flourishes and individual creativity is celebrated!

Yayoi Kusama and Art Impermanence

Students will create vibrant pumpkins through the painting process inspired by Yayoi Kusama's signature polka dots and bold colors, exploring themes of repetition and pattern. Throughout the project, they will discuss the concept of impermanence in art and how it relates to Kusama's work. At the end of the project, students will drop their painted pumpkins filled with slime from the top of a building, experiencing the transformation of their artwork and reflecting on the transient nature of creativity and expression. This project encourages both artistic exploration and meaningful discussions about the lifecycle of art.
